Meet Kaitlyn Runyon, LIMHP, LCSW
Therapist. Advocate. Anchor.
Kaitlyn Runyon is a licensed independent mental health practitioner (LIMHP) and clinical social worker (LCSW) who specializes in therapy for women, teens, and young adults. With over a decade of experience and advanced training in trauma-informed, evidence-based practices, Kaitlyn helps clients find strength and calm—no matter what they’re facing.
But Kaitlyn’s qualifications are only part of the story. What truly defines her as a therapist is who she is.
Born to a teenage mother, Kaitlyn’s childhood was filled with complexity—marked by love, change, and loss. After a hostile divorce disrupted her sense of safety, she found grounding in her relationships with her grandparents—and in the consistent support of her long-time therapist. That experience changed her life, and it’s the reason she became a therapist herself.
“What I needed then is what I offer now: someone calm, consistent, and safe.”
Kaitlyn brings that exact presence into every session. Clients often describe her as genuine, grounding, and deeply attuned. She meets clients exactly where they are, whether they’re shut down, spiraling, or angry at the world. “I love angry clients,” she says. “That energy means we’re alive and working.”
Kaitlyn’s professional background includes working in behavioral classrooms and with families navigating parenting challenges. She holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and is trained in:
-
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
-
Brainspotting
-
ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
-
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
-
Expressive arts and play-based interventions
She works with clients ages 6–40 of all genders and specializes in:
-
Prenatal & Postpartum transitions
-
Parenting stress & emotional regulation
-
Depression, anxiety, and mood disorders
-
Childhood behavioral challenges
-
Trauma and attachment disruptions
A Little More About Kaitlyn
Today, Kaitlyn lives a full and beautifully messy life with her husband and their three young children. You’ll find her spending time at the park, attempting dinner-time transitions with grace (and snacks), or roaming Target for joy. A former distance runner, she now channels that discipline and love of challenge into her work—and into raising tiny humans.
Her self-care rituals include watching Friends (again), practicing mindfulness, and trying new strategies in the therapy room. She continues to learn, grow, and deepen her understanding of what her clients need most: a space to be their full, complicated selves—with someone who truly sees them.
